About Annapolis
Annapolis is Maryland's capital.
As of two thousand four, the city's population was thirty six
thousand two hundred seventeen. The United States Naval Academy
and St John's College are located in Annapolis. There were over
fifteen thousand three hundred households in the city, with more
than eight thousand seven hundred families. The city has about
sixteen thousand two hundred housing units. Of the households,
twenty four and a half percent had children aged seventeen and
younger, thirty six point six percent were married couples
living together and sixteen point three percent had a female as
the head of the household. Forty three point three percent were
non family households with thirty two point nine percent of the
households made up of individuals and nine point two percent had
a person over the age of sixty four who was living alone. The
average size family was two point nine people. The city's
population was comprised of twenty one point seven aged
seventeen and under, nine point three aged over seventeen to and
including twenty four years, thirty three point four percent
aged over twenty four years old to and including forty four,
twenty three point seven percent aged over forty four years to
and including sixty four years old and eleven point nine percent
who were older than sixty four years of age. There were nine
males for every ten females. The median household income was
forty nine thousand two hundred forty three dollars and the
median family income was fifty six thousand nine hundred eighty
four dollars.
